Audit Description

The Energy Partners was chosen as one of two contractors to energy audit a significant portion of the USDA multifamily housing stock in North Carolina. The project was completed as part of the US Department of Energy’s Weatherization Program through ARRA funding.

3,000 units were audited in 18 communities across the state. Audits entailed completing an inspection of all units to assess the energy efficiency upgrade opportunities and to identify any health and safety or building durability issues. The audits included looking at appliances, lighting, water usage, insulation, airsealing,  and ventilation. Blower door door testing was completed on 20% (before and after improvements.)

The Energy Partners completed energy modeling to cost justify the upgrades, presented the findings to the NC Energy Office, and developed a scope of work for implementation of energy improvements. Once improvements were completed by an independent contractor, TEP completed a final verification audit to ensure that the socpe of work had been satisfied and met proper quality standards.
